The ingredients for making Recipes easy to make Arhar Dal Tadka

  1. 1/2 cup Arhar Dal (washed properly)
  2. 2 cup water
  3. 1 tsp turmeric powder
  4. As needed Salt
  5. For Tadka
  6. 1 TBSP oil
  7. 2 medium size onion finely chopped
  8. 7-8 cloves garlic finely chopped
  9. 1 inch ginger finely chopped or grated
  10. 1 big tomato finely chopped
  11. 1.5 tsp cumin seeds
  12. 1/2 tsp asafoetida powder
  13. 4-5 cloves
  14. 5-6 curry leaves
  15. 2 tsp Finely chopped coriander leaves
  16. 1/2 + 1/2 tsp Juice of lemon or turmeric paste
  17. 1/4 tsp sugar or jaggery
  18. For Lal Mirch Tadka-
  19. 2 tbsp ghee
  20. 2-3 Dried red chillies
  21. 2 tsp Red chilli powder

  1. Boil the dal with water, turmeric and salt. Add cloves too.

  2. In a deep pan, take some oil, add Asafoetida, cumin seeds, ginger and garlic. Sauté for a few min and add onion to it. Add curry leaves and Sauté for another 5 min until it turns brown.

  3. Add tomatoes and let them be soft. Add a pinch of salt if needed. Add sugar or jaggery and tamarind paste.

  4. Add this Tadka to dal. Boil well. Add water if it’s thick.

  5. Add coriander leaves and let it cook for another few minutes.

  6. Take ghee in a small pan and heat well. Switch off the flame and add red chilli powder and dried chillies to it. Add this Tadka before serving.

  7. This Dal goes very well with jeera rice or simple butter chapati.
